New Practice Cricket Wicket at The Rec

East Coker Cricket Club has sought the re-instatement of their practice wicket which had been removed by Western Power Services to enable a new pole to be erected.  Paul Morton, Chair of the Cricket Club, had calculated costings for the materials and Councillor Kath Wilson was successful in making a funding bid to the Wellbeing of Yeovil Association for these costs, with the Parish Council funding the contractors, who will be supported by members of the club. There has been a delay in getting started, as East Coker Cockerels Football Club asked the Parish Council to consider the provision of a 9 v 9 pitch to support a new youth initiative of the Football Association.  Unfortunately, after much measuring and investigation that has not been possible and so the practice wicket will be developed during late June/early July.
